Healing Begins with Human Connection
One of the biggest myths about being a therapist is that we have everything figured out. We don't. I experience uncertainty, grief, fear, and moments when I question myself—just like anyone else. Choosing this profession didn't remove life's challenges; it taught me how to face them with greater awareness, compassion, and resilience. When someone walks into my therapy room, I don't sit across from them as someone who has reached the finish line. I'm still growing too. The difference is that years of learning, practice, and self-reflection have helped me recognize emotional patterns, navigate difficult moments, and trust that even the hardest paths can lead to meaningful change. Therapy isn't about having all the answers or telling people how to live. It's about creating a safe space where someone feels seen, heard, and supported while they find their own way forward. Sometimes my role is simply to hold hope for a client until they're able to hold it for themselves. Healing doesn't happen because a therapist is perfect. It happens because of a relationship built on trust, empathy, professional guidance, and genuine human connection. The most rewarding moments in therapy aren't when I solve someone's problems. They're when a client discovers their own strength, challenges old beliefs, and says, "I didn't think I could do this—but I did." That's the true purpose of therapy. Not to create dependence, but to help people reconnect with the resilience that has been within them all along. — Dr. Manisha Singh
